Memorial Day Weekend

With Memorial Day Weekend upon us, I found myself with out a project and 2 boxes full of new yarn.  It was like Christmas here at my house!  I had bought some off of eBay; they came included in the trasaction with the Spruce I had to track down so my Mum could finish her blanket.  Only took me 3 months, but I did it.  Who's complaining?  I got yarn out of the deal!

I pretty much just tossed the contents of the boxes on the floor.  Why the heck not, my Mum was at the store, she had no clue what I was doing ;0).  One by one, I lined up colors along my couch.  I started with light Baby colors.  It is not that shocking.  I do mostly Baby items.  But then I started tossing in darker colors that complemented them.  And my line up grew.

Now everyone knows I'm a sucker for color.  This should be no surprise to anyone by now, but I'm talking I had like 25 different colors and I was considering tossing in more.  And I also have to be perfectly honest, I still had no idea what I was going to do with them at this point.  But colors speak to me.  I can't help it!

By day 2 I had picked out Light, Medium and Dark shades of 6 different colors; Green, Aqua, Yellow, Pink, Blue and Purple.  I decided I was going to make up some Granny Squares.  Yes, they have become my favorite thing to do.  They are quick, easy, and fun to do and so very versitile.  By day 3, I had 4 blocks of most of those colors, 14 to be exact, made up!

Aqua, Green, Yellow, Pink, Blue, and Purple

That's 56 adorable little squares all lined up nice and pretty like, just waiting for me to make something with!  Of course, I have to finish the rest of my blocks first.  And of course, decide if I'm going to pick those other colors I was talking about earlier.  Yes, I know I'm a sucker.  What can I say?  I was also considering throwing in some ombre prints as well for a touch of funk!  I haven't decided that yet.  It depends on how many blocks I have made up when I'm done, and just how many I need when I am all said and done.  Right now, these are what I have!

Delft Blue, Robin Blue, and Yale Blue
Shocking Pink, Pink, and Young Pink
Medium Purple, Medium Violet, and Rose Orchid
Cornmeal, Maize, and Pale Yellow

With Monday upon us, I have counted only 56 blocks. And honestly that is not going to get me anywhere. I need to get my back side moving if I want to get this blanket make sometime this year. I have finished the Aqua and Green trio blocks at least!

Clover Green, Seafoam and Mint
Teal, Turqua and Nile Green

At this point I have pretty much dumped my yarn boxes all over the floor savaging for colors to use. I have like one color left and nothing to go with it. I'm going to have to hit the store again. In the mean time, I might as well toss in some prints to go with it. If it doesn't look right in the end, I guess I'm just going to have to take them out, right? No big deal. Worse comes to worse, I already have blocks made up for another project!

Sherbert Ombre, Violet Stripes, and Wedgewood

End of Day 4!

And this is where we come to an end of Day 4 my friends. 84 wonderful, pretty, little squares, all begging me to do something with them from their bag! And with this I bid you all a Wonderful Memorial Day! Sunflower #Crochet #GrannySquares #MemorialDay #MemorialDayWeekend #2012
